Dental Fillings

If you have cavities caused by dental decay, our dentists may recommend dental fillings to repair your smile. There are generally two types of fillings, amalgam (silver) or composite (tooth colored). Our dentists will decide which type of filling material will work best for the long term life expectancy of your tooth based on the size of the decay and the position of the tooth in your mouth. Amalgam (silver) fillings generally have a longer life expectancy and work better in harder to isolate areas of the mouth whereas tooth colored fillings or “bonds” can be used in areas requiring a more aesthetic result.

Tooth colored fillings can also be used in posterior teeth if a patient prefers matching the tooth shade. When a composite filling is placed, the doctors use a specifically graded shade guide to pick a color most matching to your smile in both fluorescent and natural light. Fillings can usually be placed in a single appointment. For more information call the office at (856) 589-3803.

Dental Crowns

If teeth have become too damaged by fracture or dental decay to be restored with a traditional dental filling, our dentists may recommend dental crowns or "caps". As one of the more traditional dental restorations we offer, a dental crown is used to cover healthy parts of a compromised tooth in order to retain as much natural tooth structure as possible in conjunction with restored functionality. A dental crown is custom made and shaped to fit the tooth and comfortably match your bite.

These "caps" can be made from different materials based on the area of the mouth being restored and position/strength of the existing bite. A dental crown is usually completed in two office visits, the first being the preparation and scanning of the tooth including placement of a temporary crown. This is the longer of the two appointments with the second appointment being designated for the placement of the permanent crown. In addition to function, crowns may be used to aesthetically enhance the smile. Feel free to call with any questions, we are happy to be your resource (856) 589-3803.

Dental Bridges

Dental Bridges are a less expensive alternative to dental implants in order to replace a missing tooth. A dental bridge can replace from one to several missing teeth in a particular area of the mouth by using a fixed restoration held in place by two or more permanently cemented dental crowns.

A dental bridge is a conservative approach to a dental restoration that is less involved and invasive than a dental implant yet more permanent and functional than a removable denture. This fixed dental restoration is a great option for spaces needing to be filled with adjacent teeth that have already been significantly restored. Other advantages of a bridge are:

  • Improving a smile's appearance
  • Eliminating the need for a removable appliance
  • Restoring the ability to chew and speak properly
  • Preventing natural teeth from shifting

As with most dental restorations, dental bridges are custom created to fit your needs and the shape of your mouth. They are a great option for restoring the utility of your teeth and the aesthetic appearance of your smile. Call for further information. (856) 589-3803.

Dentures

Dentures are a set of prosthetic (acrylic) teeth used as an oral appliance to replace multiple missing teeth. They help restore the functionality of the mouth and the visual appearance of your smile. Depending on the need, you may require one of two types of dentures:

Partial Dentures

Used when you have multiple missing teeth but still retain some of your original teeth, partial dentures fill the spaces between existing natural teeth to form a more comfortable and complete smile.

Complete Dentures

This type of denture is used when a patient is missing all of their natural teeth in either the top, bottom or both in the mouth. This full denture covers all of the dental arch and is held in place by either suction or a dental adhesive.

In either case the denture is custom made by our dentists for a fully comfortable fit. We digitally scan the mouth to create an ideal electronic representation and send that image to the dental lab to have the denture made. Once completed, the dentist will adjust the fit and appearance for an accurate and comfortable result. For more information call the office at (856) 589-3803.

Veneers

Veneers are a cosmetic option for patients looking to improve the aesthetic of their smile without the need for full coverage crowns, but in situations where dental bonding is not applicable. Dental veneers are a thin, tooth colored covering placed on the front surface of teeth to improve their appearance typically made of porcelain. Veneers are an excellent option for someone who wants to improve their smile with limited reduction in natural tooth structure. They are fabricated in a dental laboratory and shade guide matched to the existing natural teeth for a seamless look. They are best used in situations of:

  • Chipped or broken teeth
  • Gaps or spaces between teeth
  • Stains that don't respond to whitening treatments
  • Teeth that are small or misshapen
  • Slightly crooked teeth

Veneers are primarily used as a cosmetic treatment and are a great option to get the smile you've always wanted. For more information call the office (856) 589-3803.
